Bewitched is a fantasy sitcom chronicling what happens when a witch and a mortal fall in love and get married in 1960s and ’70s suburban America. At the very center of the show is Elizabeth Montgomery’s portrayal of a good-hearted witch named Samantha. A strong, independent woman with the world at her finger tips (or at the twitch of her nose), she gives up her witchly life to do things the “mortal way”. Her mortal husband Darrin Stephens (played by Dick York, and later Dick Sargent) is a talented advertising executive with McMann & Tate. He obsesses with leading a “normal life” where one works hard to earn a good living for one’s family. He constantly struggles against disapproving witches and warlocks, like Samantha’s powerful mother, Endora.

Season 1 Ep.01: I, Darrin, Take This Witch, Samantha

This magical 1960s series begins when Darrin and Samantha first bump into each other. They realize that they have real feelings for each other and they decide to get married. What Darrin doesn’t know is that Samantha is a witch. On their honeymoon, Endora visits Samantha and tells her that she made a big mistake marrying a mortal and spends eight years trying to break the marriage. Samantha tells Darrin the truth about herself and gives him a demo of her powers. After a little soul searching, Darrin accepts her background and wants her to be a regular housewife and not to practice witchcraft. Until his former girlfriend Sheila Sommers comes in the picture. She invites Darrin and Samantha to her house for a dinner party. At the party, Sheila trashes Samantha with insults, and Samantha teaches her a lesson by trashing her party with magic! Darrin doesn’t like the fact that Samantha used her magic to get even, but Sheila did get what she had coming to her. And so begins eight years of magic and misunderstanding in Darrin and Samantha’s life.

The young executive of an advertisement agency, Darrin Stephens marries a beautiful woman, Samantha Stephens. On their honeymoon, Sam discloses a secret to him: she is a witch with magic powers. He makes her promise him that she will live like a mortal, without using witchcraft and spells in their lives, but sometimes she uses her magic to help Darrin and herself. Sam’s mother, Endora does not accept her mortal son-in-law, hates him and can hardly say his name correctly. In the suburb of Morning Glory Circle, where they live, their curious next-door neighbor Gladys Kravitz suspect Samantha, but can never prove the weird situations she sees to her husband Abner Kravitz. Darrin works in the McMahon and Tate ad agency with Larry Tate, who is married to Louise Tate. Samantha frequently receives her witch aunts in her house, specially her sweet old Aunt Clara.

The original Robin Hood series, intended primarily for children, featuring Robin of Locksley and his merry men in Sherwood Forest, who protect England from the evil machinations of Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham, while good King Richard is away at the Crusades. An unusual television series at the time in that it frequently re-used the same actors in different roles, or different actors in a recurring roles.
The legend of Robin Hood is given a grand retelling in this popular an long running series made for television (1955-58). Filmed in Great Britain with the handsome and dashing British actor Richard Greene as Robin, the “outlaws” of Sherwood Forest watch over the people of England and protect them from the cruelty and greed of the ruling aristocrats.

Though it isn’t remembered by many TV viewers today, The Virginian TV show was one of the most popular Westerns in its day. The NBC series ran for eight seasons, from 1962 until 1970. The characters returned in the 1970-71 season in a different format and the show was renamed The Men from Shiloh.

The Virginian series follows the adventures of a strong-willed man known only as the “Virginian” (James Drury) who works to maintain order on the Shiloh Ranch in Wyoming. Other regular actors during the run of the series include Doug McClure, Lee J. Cobb, John McIntire, Charles Bickford, Stewart Granger, Clu Gulager, Gary Clarke, Randy Boone, and Roberta Shore.

It’s often been remarked that The Virginian had such high production values that each episode looked like a feature film. The 249 installments are 90 minutes apiece and were all shot in color; a rarity for its day.

Aiding the tough foreman are cowboys Trampas (Doug McClure) and Steve (Gary Clarke).
It is the setting for a variety of stories, many more based on character and relationships than the usual western.

A new school teacher, Arthur Lilley (George C. Scott), and his uppity wife (Anne Meacham) come to Medicine Bow. Arthur is a well-educated man and his wife believes the job beneath him but Arthur sees himself as a coward, thinking he was responsible for the deaths of several students in a fire at his former school in Vermont. When two murderers escape from prison and take as hostages the teacher, his wife and the school children including Betsy Garth, Arthur’s mettle meets the supreme test.
