Johnny Ringo S1 Ep02 Cully

Ex-gunfighter is now the sheriff of a small town, and attempts to keep the peace with the aid of his deputy, Cully, and his girl, Laura Thomas.
This western series was short-lived ,but was well-produced by the great Aaron Spelling.

Season 1 Ep. 2: Cully

The trick-shooter, Kid Adonis, in a traveling show gets the attention of Ringo. The manager of the show thinks Ringo might have been the one who killed the Kid’s father and is hoping to force them into a gunfight.

Johnny Ringo, the famous gunslinger becomes the Sheriff of Velardi,Arizona. All those aspiring to become the”Fastest Gun In The West” descend upon Velardi to test themselves against the great Johnny Ringo, who,it turns out is not interested in that life anymore.

The show came out in the Fall of 1959 in the absolute heyday of the TV Western.I think it ranks amongst the Top 5 of the whole bunch.Like most Westerns in those days,it was dominated by the star:Don Durant. He may not have been the greatest actor of all-time,but he was perfect for this role.I think the latter episodes where Laura and Cason Thomas are gone, are a little weaker than the earlier ones.
The show might have gained by involving Laura a little more in the storylines.
One other thing we can’t forget about “Johnny Ringo” is the fabulous theme song, sung by Don Durant himself, which ends every show.
