Tom Grant has found a rich gold vein and Bart Eaton is after it. Tom’s sister Mary heads for the gold fields and Eaton and his men follow. Eaton teams up with Ace Daggett who plans to doublecross him and get the gold for himself. They frame Tom for murder and then try to get him to sign over his claim. The famous scout Tex Houston is on hand, escaping the attempts on his life, saving Mary from various perils, and trying to bring in the real killer and clear Tom.

Chapter 1: The River Runs Red

Tex Houston (Johnny Mack Brown), famous Indian scout, finds a Pony Express Rider dead on the trail, killed by renegade Indians. He decides to take the rider’s mailbag into town, where he meets Mary Grant and her father, terrorized by ruthless Bart Eaton, who is intent on wedding Mary and stealing her brother’s gold mine. It’s up to Tex to ward off renegade Indians and rival outlaw gangs in order to save Mary and her brother’s gold.

Famous Indian Scout Tex Houston does battle against swindlers and gunslingers to protect the lives of gold miner Tom Grant and his family. Saddled with a debt to crooked financier Bart Eaton, Tom escapes Plainsville, moves to Gold Creek, California, and works a land claim that makes him wealthy. Hearing the news of Grant’s newfound success, Eaton follows Grant’s sister Mary out to Gold Creek. The corrupt businessman plots to secure her hand in marriage so he can have access her brother’s mining operation. Eaton teams up with outlaw Ace Daggett, who has his own plans for Tom’s business. Tex must battle the two criminals’ murderous schemes through fifteen death-defying chapters.
