Season 1 Ep.1: Upside Down
Attorney Michael Theodore crashes his Mercedes in the Hollywood Hills and is rescued by cop Liz Campano. The chemistry between them is instantaneous: Liz drives him home, cuffs him to the bed, and has oral sex with him. Michael’s fiancée Jocelyn Delacourt, daughter of the firm’s founding partner, stops by as Liz is leaving, and Michael has sex with her to forestall suspicion. He confides in his colleague Luther about it the next morning: he loves Jocelyn, but she doesn’t excite him the way Liz does. Later that day, Michael meets Liz at her sister Abigail’s café/newsstand to sign the accident report. Liz, who has been suspended for roughing up a suspect during a chase, is about to give Michael the brush-off, but changes her mind and invites him to the movies. They have sex in the theatre and, later, in the ladies’ room. Both are afraid of the out-of-control way they feel, but neither can deny the attraction.
As the saying goes — opposites attract — but that is just the tip of the connection between Liz and Michael. Liz is the cop; Michael, the corporate lawyer. They come from different worlds: the ivy-league world of a law firm where Michael is engaged to the boss’s daughter, and the gritty world of the LAPD, where Liz is a hardboiled cop on the beat. But from the moment Liz saves Michael from a fiery car wreck, their chemistry explodes on every level. They try to break the spell of their mind-blowing attraction but can’t and maybe they’ll find they don’t want to. Enter their world filled with erotic madness and inhabited by the quirky assortment of family, friends and lovers who orbit their cosmic storm.
