Captain Z-RO S1 Ep1 – Christopher Columbus

This show was obviously made for kids, what with that dumb title and all, but through all the goofiness, it’s an entertaining show. Today it’s more funny than anything else. Basically, and his good buddy Jet go on adventures. The acting is dull, the stories old and predictable, but worth watching for a good laugh.

Somewhere, in the remote, uncharted regions of the earth, stands the laboratory of Captain Z-ro.
In this secret location, known only to a few in the outside world, Captain Z-ro and his associates experiment in Time and Space.
The laboratory, auxiliary buildings, air strip and rocket platform are occupied primarily by Captain Z-ro, Jet, his teen-age assistant and by Micro, Tetro, Arcro and others.
Captain Z-ro has developed a Time Machine (based on projections of factual theories, as are all of his developments) consisting of many components, including a Time Screen, Materialization Chamber, Language Rectifier and a sound wave segregator. These items are developed in the series as are the Microfile, Sonic Disintegrator, Brain Wave Analyzer, Gravity Levitator and many others.
Captain Z-ro not only explores space and becomes involved with adventures on other planets, but is able to travel back and forth in time.
Captain Z-RO and his sidekick Jet travel through the past in their time shifting rocket ship, chasing villains and teaching the history of the United States and it’s colorful heroes. Captain Z-RO started as a 15 minute live show airing on KRON TV in San Francisco, CA in November, 1951, as a weekly series. From 1953 to 54, the 15 minute live weekly show aired on KTTV, Los Angeles, for 26 weeks. Then for it’s forth season, the show went to tape for 26 half hour episodes in 1954-55, filmed by the San Francisco group, Captain Z-RO Corporation. In 1955, the show enjoyed some syndication around the country winning national awards for being a top quality kids show, but lack of experience by the distributor eventually lead to the shows demise in 1956.
